House of Spices Reviews
Good location to explore stone town, very good breakfast, everything smells nicely, staff friendly, clean, well decorated
The rooms are equipped with A/C, fans and mosquito nets and cozy. Beds are quite comfortable. Staff is very friendly and everything went very smoothly. The restaurant on the top floor sell tasty (Italian) food!
We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel as it was as good as previous reviews mentioned. The pickup from the airport was completed without fuss even though our plane had been delayed quite some time. The driver was still waiting for us. We arrived late at night and the check in procedure was quick and efficient. The hotel only has a few rooms but we were in what probably was the largest with a separate seating area. The decorations and the whole hotel is full of character with numerous things to notice during the stay. Everything worked as it should and the location, within the old town, was ideal for walking round on foot. The breakfast was tasty and a good start to the day and in fact all the food, whether for lunch or dinner, was way above the average we had in Stone Town. The restaurant is recommended even if you don't stay there. The staff were friendly and helpful without being intrusive and professional. I'd definitely stay here again without a doubt.
We have stayed there for two nights and it was nice. The staff was very friendly, clean and comfortable room. We also tried the rooftop restaurant and the food was amazing... delicious fresh seafood with zanzibar spices - no words needed :) Recommend to all who love small cultural places and hotels!!!:)
The house of Spices is a beautifully restored and decorated traditional Arab traders house, everything in keeping, comfortable and tasteful. Breakfast was very good and the staff always friendly and the building is typical zanzibar old town style so lovely. Location in old town alley ways gives it a real feel. Clean and great food. Loved our stay here.
The decor of the rooms was incredible. My room was HUGE and had aircon. They also have a really great little shop with curated items. Breakfast was tasty and with good coffee. I’d recommend also booking a dinner there.
Everything was so unique from the spiced hand soaps, to the gorgeous silks on the bed. The hotel is right in the center of stone town, and a great place to experience this city. The breakfast every morning was fantastic, with some of the best coffee we had in Zanzibar. Lunches were also amazing, with perfect detailing on each plate.
They helped us easily arrange transport from the airport, and book dinners at some of the local restaurants. The staff was so welcoming, and kept us very comfortable throughout our stay. Thank you so much!
The House of Spices is my favorite restaurant in Zanzibar.
I think i have tried almost all the dishes in the menu but one of the best is the seafood soup and seafood curry and black marlin and..... and ....and....PIZZA!
Every time i'm filling like at home, chatting with the staff and relaxing in their beautiful terrace. Nice atmosphere highly recommended!
Well done guys
Such a beautiful place, we visited during the early lunch hours and it was really peaceful. We received absolutely amazing service and food was just delicious. Well recommended
Great food and a warm welcome. Location is nice with a small shop at ground floor. We had an amazing food at a Very good price! Try The layered avocado mango eggplant and the ravioli!
We were not expecting such a beautiful boutique hotel! The decor is simply stunning, the owner is extremely helpful and the location is perfect for exploring Stonetown. Breakfast was an absolute treat each morning with fresh fruit, pancakes and cakes. Shared bathroom was no problem at all. Lovely gift shop too.
Came here a few times during our stay in Zanzibar. And yes, it is definitely worth going to the House of Spices - the food is great, the atmosphere is relaxed, and one gets good advice. Make sure to book in advance though: they might get you a table if you don't, but you get treated very differently...
House of Spices has amazing food and service. Had Fritto misto here. It's an amazing delicacy of fried prawns, crab and squids. Very polite and helpful staff to recommend food. Quick services. Would definitely recommend this place to colegues and friends. Will definitely visit this place again.
Fantastic dreamy hotel that has kept the decor from the olden times of spice trade.
The food delicious a fusion of Zanzibar n Italian cuisine.
We loved the super service here and the smells of beautiful spices that are still sold in the reception

We tried little bit from everything. Pasta and masala were amazing, pizza and desert were good but nothing for what you have to come again. I highly recommend this restaurant, it’s one of best what I try so far.
